Welcome one and all! A grand place all about crochet! Crochet is truly my therapy. The last twelve years have been different. I lost my only son, Ricky. I stopped working. I went to school to be a registered nurse. I became caregiver to my parents. I have seen my beautiful daughter just blossom into a top notch student, don't get me wrong. She was top notch in her class in high school. I keep busy. Caring for my parents has been a blessing, and a challenge. It is difficult changing roles from the kid to the parent. It's been a challenge and a blessing. My daughter was attending school to become a doctor after my son was killed, after a few years and much work finding schools, she decided to become an RN (registered nurse) and is the best! She is taking time off from being a student, but plans on becoming a Flight Nurse. Scary for mom, but I applaud her! Now about crochet.......... My dear husband and I spent Valentine's Day up in Big Bear Lake. He is a truck driver and is gone most of the time, so it was a nice romantic getaway. We have been married 22 years now. I picked up a book titled, 'The Friday Night Knitting Club'. I was so thrilled with it, it just looked good and I had to have it. I read it while up in Big Bear Lake for Valentine's Day week. I was thrilled. It ended up taking me about 5 weeks to read from cover to cover. The joy, the friendship, the love and the knitting that this group shared was incredible. Well needless to say, I wanted to knit! I only know how to knit easy slippers, so I decided to crochet. And as they say, 'the rest is history'! My mom taught me to crochet when I was young. I started to crochet again in March 2012, and have made over 50 items since then! I am selling some of my items. I have made stuff for my family. But I have begun to crochet for the less fortunate. Right now that means crocheting for a group of women on the internet I belong to called: 'Wrapped In Love'. We crochet blankets for families that have lost a child. Since I have also lost a child, this cause is very important to me. I also crochet little lovey blankets for the hospital where my daughter works. She gives them to the little ones when they come in with the patient, or they are the patient. We all need a little bit of comfort. I have to go for now. Will write more soon. TTFN (ta ta for now)!
